The Division of the National Toxicology Program (DNTP), Cellular and Molecular Pathology Branch is seeking a highly motivated veterinary pathologist with specific expertise in molecular and toxicologic pathology in support of DNTP rodent toxicology and carcinogenicity studies. The Cellular and Molecular Pathology Branch (CMPB) is within the DNTP, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, National Institutes of Health (NIH). The National Toxicology Program is an interagency program and world leader whose mission is to evaluate agents of public health concern by developing and applying the tools of modern pathology, toxicology and molecular biology.
As head of the Investigative Pathology Group within the CMPB, the selected candidate will lead a small group of scientists, will have laboratory resources and budget and will focus on addressing mechanisms of environmental disease in toxicology and carcinogenesis studies. In this position, the pathologist will (1) initiate DNTP collaborative toxicology and pathology research with scientists in the DNTP/NIEHS, (2) integrate investigative pathology evaluations in DNTP/NIEHS studies, (3) serve as a member of DNTP study design teams and review teams and (4) have access to CMPB laboratories and resources to include core facilities. The leader will represent DNTP at local, national and international meetings.
Minimum qualifications include (1) DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and (2) preferred board certification in anatomic pathology by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists or equivalent certification. Additionally, at least four years of experience in toxicologic pathology, genomics, molecular biology, and a PhD degree are preferred. Salary is commensurate with background.
