The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is recruiting for multiple full-time appointments at either the tenure-track or tenure-eligible level in the areas of Molecular and Cellular Signaling, Neuroscience, and Developmental or Reproductive Biology. The NIEHS is located in the Research Triangle Park (RTP), a world renowned academic intensive research center in North Carolina and an area well known for its high quality of life. The successful candidates are expected to lead innovative, independent research programs on any fundamental aspect of research in the above three areas of interest which form a basis for understanding the effects of the environment on human health. Investigators in the NIH intramural program have no formal teaching duties and minimal administrative responsibilities. They are funded internally with the potential for generous long-term continuous support. In exchange they are expected to engage directly in the conduct of research with students, postdoctoral fellows and support staff and to collaborate with their colleagues to solve important scientific problems related to the Institute's mission. Excellent start-up funds, salary, and benefits packages will be provided to the selected applicants; they will also have access to state-of-the-art research core facilities. Applicants should have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with at least 3 years of postdoctoral research experience in their field and an outstanding publication record. The emphasis will be on identifying exceptional scientists with innovative and productive research programs. Applications from women and under-represented minorities are strongly encouraged.
